National EMS week held May 20-25, 2024. This was put into place by President Gerald Ford in 1974 to celebrate EMS. (Emergency Medical Services) practitioners and the important work they do in our nation's communities. NAEMT (National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians) partners with the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) to lead annual EMS Week activities.
We want to thank all EMS providers but especially the ones on our ambulance crew. Thank you all for what you do. During EMS week, please give a shout out, high five or thank you to your local EMS providers when you see them. v
2024's Theme- Marks the 50th Anniversary of EMS week. Honoring Our Past, Forging Our Future- For us, this means we could not provide this service without the past EMS providers paving the way and to our future EMS providers continuing on the legecy. We strive to provide the best care we can to everyone we serve. We train countless hours to achieve our certifications and numerous hours of continuing education to keep up with the ever changing evidence based Best Practices. We rectify our certifications every two years nationally and with the State of ND. This all takes time and money but we all love the job that we do.

Garrison-Max Ryder-Makoti Ambulance District was official in 1969 as a nonprofit ambulance service. We are a Basic Life Support (BLS) service with Advanced Life Support (ALS) capabilities. Since 2007 we have had a paramedic on call every day. Our base station is in Garrison, ND, with a substation in Max, and Makoti N.D. Our service district covers approximately 1100 square miles, including Fort Stevenson State Park, Camp of the Cross, Ryder, Makoti, Max, Douglas, Benedict, and a section of Lake Sakakawea and Lake Audubon. We have one crew on 24/7 365 days a year with multiple backup volunteers in the sub station areas. We have been blessed with wonderful staff but always in need for more help.
